Process Engineer

The role of a process engineer is crucial for the design of a process plant. As a process engineer, you are responsible for analyzing and designing production processes and contribute to ensuring efficient and safe operation of the process plant’s facilities.

In Process Engineering, our process engineers handle tasks ranging from process simulation and modeling, PFD (Process Flow Diagram) & P&ID (Process and Instrumentation Diagram), equipment sizing, material and energy balances, process safety and risk assessment, compliance with regulations and standards, as well as commissioning.

Process Engineer's tasks

One of the starting points for engineering a process plant is the PFD, which gathers all the fundamental information about the processes to be carried out in the plant. P&ID is a detailed piping and instrumentation diagram used in the process industry to provide an overview of the process equipment and its relationships. These diagrams specify equipment types, sizes, and locations, as well as identifying safety systems and process connections.

Our process engineers develop both PFDs and P&IDs to illustrate the overall process flow, equipment layout, and instrumentation requirements for the plant. With the PFD, we map out all mass and energy streams and establish the pressure and temperature for each of these streams. With the P&ID, we detail process data on piping and pipe sizes, pipe numbering, components, component numbering, and the relationship between instrumentation and control devices for the purpose of creating a 3D model of the entire process plant and its construction.


Equipment Sizing
The process engineer determines specifications and requirements for process equipment such as reactors, separators, distillation columns, pumps, and heat exchangers. They select appropriate equipment based on factors such as capacity, efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with process conditions and feedstock properties.

Material and Energy Balances
Our process engineers perform material and energy balances to ensure that the process operates efficiently and meets product quality specifications. They track materials and energy flow through the plant, identify potential bottlenecks or inefficiencies, and propose solutions to optimize resource utilization and minimize waste generation.

Process Safety and Risk Assessment
We conduct HAZOP, process safety analyses, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards, safety risks, and operational challenges associated with the process plant. In this regard, we develop safety protocols, emergency response plans, and measures to prevent accidents.

Compliance with Regulations and Standards
Our process engineers ensure that the design of the process plant complies with relevant standards and regulations.

Our process engineers provide technical expertise and support during the commissioning and start-up phase of the process plant. They monitor equipment installation, system testing, and process optimization activities to ensure a smooth start-up, performance validation, and transition to full-scale operation.
