Project description

Upgrade of Biofac’s existing system for acetone cleaning in connection with the establishment of a new production facility for production of API Thyodea bulk.

The process

Biofac was responsible for the overall project management and Process Engineering reported to the project manager from Biofac. We provided consulting services on process simulation, mechanical design and construction of the process plant.

To increase the capacity, the existing system was separated into two distillation columns in two discrete systems. We simulated the changed process and designed the new supply units (two pieces feed and two pieces condenser units) on the basis of the simulation. Units (incl. controls) were prefabricated for installation in connection with the shutdown of production during the summer holidays.

In collaboration with Biofac we focused on how the acetone regeneration system’s downtime could be reduced in connection with the reconstruction of the distillation columns and installation of the new supply units.
