Case story
Pipe design for a land-based aquaculture facility
Artec Aqua is a Norwegian company specializing in land-based aquaculture facilities, working across the entire value chain for salmon and trout farming and ensuring optimal conditions and high water quality throughout the process. The eggs are hatched in controlled environments and then moved to tanks that mimic natural conditions. Here, the fish grow until they are large enough to be transferred to sea farms in the fjords. Once they have reached the appropriate size, they are recaptured and prepared for packing. In connection with the etablishment of a land-based aquaculture facility, Artec Aqua required additional resources to prepare pipe layouts and pipe design. Process Engineering Norge AS was brought into handle part of the plant layout.
Competencies
Project phases
The process
The project was carried out by one of our designers in close collaboration with the client’s project team, where each participant was responsible for their respective area of the facility layout.
In the section of the facility for which we were responsible, we were tasked with implementing heat exchangers, pumps, and supports. The work included both layout and pipe design, which were carried out in Plant 3D. In addition, we prepared 2D drawings, floor plans, and isometric drawings for all pipes, including tag numbering. To ensure proper integration of the equipment into the plant layout, we also developed the PFD (Process Flow Diagram) and P&ID (Process &/ Instrumentation Diagram).
Service and scope of the project
- Construction in Plant 3D
- Isometric drawings incl. tag numbering
- P&ID
- PFD
