Business segments greatly benefits from each other
20 August 2025
Since 2015, Process Engineering has been providing consultancy services for process plants in major investment projects within the Food & Biotech segment. But did you know that Process Engineering also offers many other consultancy services and collaborates across its business segments?
This is especially true for the two business areas: Food & Biotech and Energy & Renewables. There is a growing focus among food producers on minimizing waste and optimizing energy consumption. Projects that implement heat pumps in energy water systems are particularly in demand, and in this context, the two business segments can benefit from each other.
We have carried out Food & Biotech projects for our clients for many years, and these projects often also include a scope of delivery within Energy & Renewables. Therefore, we see a synergy in offering our consultancy services to both business areas.

Strong competencies from both segments ensure solutions with real value
Within the Energy & Renewables segment, Process Engineering possesses extensive expertise in the design and integration of energy systems. At the same time, the Food & Biotech segment contributes with deep process knowledge of the customers’ plants, ensuring that new energy systems are implemented correctly without compromising food safety or hygienic design. Moreover, the new energy systems place demands on parameters such as return temperature, which requires careful design and process integration to achieve optimal energy utilization. These projects also often involve complex modifications of existing process plants with minimal production downtime – a core competency within Process Engineering’s Food & Biotech segment.
In the Energy & Renewables segment, we work closely with our colleagues in Food & Biotech to ensure that energy solutions are integrated effectively and with respect for the complex requirements of the food industry. When we design and implement energy systems such as heat pumps, it’s not just a matter of technology – it’s about creating solutions that work in practice and deliver real value.

Recently, Process Engineering has been working on a project that brings together the two business segments. The customer wanted to reduce their CO₂ emissions by lowering their natural gas consumption through electrification. The solution draws on the Food & Biotech segment’s process understanding of the plant and the Energy & Renewables segment’s experience with energy system integration.
